Whole Foods’ Assorted Entertainment Crackers

This isn’t the sort of review you would normally find on our gourmet extravaganza blog. We mainly review restaurants we have been to and dishes we have made. However, when I opened up this box of crackers I recently purchased at Whole Foods on Fairview and Grand in St. Paul, I knew that I had to write a review.

Earlier this week, I was at Whole Foods on a cheese buying run where I purchased some Dubliner for $2.99, some brie for $2.99, and a few of the Laughing Cow round mini cheeses for $2 each. I also sampled a wonderful cheese from Holland with all kinds of calcification goodness in the flavor, that I regretfully did not but, but hope to pick up on my return (the name either started with a ‘B’ or an ‘R’).

Realizing that I was already racking up the grocery bill on several different cheeses, I thought that I would skimp on the crackers and just get the cheapest ones I could find that also looked like a good deal. I stumbled upon Whole Foods’ “365 Everyday Value” brand of “Assorted Entertainment Crackers” and thought to myself, “yeah whatever, the cheese will make the snack anyway, so it shouldn’t matter if I get these lame crackers.” Little did I know that these crackers were not lame at all!

The first thing I noticed about the crackers was the amazing packaging they came in. “Wow”, I thought, “this would be awesome to set out on the table and snack with!” Seeing all the tasty looking crackers, I flipped the box over to discover a list of crackers described as “an all-star cast that will satisfy even the greatest snacking needs.” Among this dream team of crackers are:

  • Original Entertainer Cracker (very buttery and delicious — my favorite)
  • Wheat Entertainer Cracker (not as buttery, but has a nice flavor too)
  • Water Cracker (barely made the cut, dry and good for a wet/spreadable cheese)
  • Pepper & Poppy Seed Water Cracker (spicy and nice, perceptually less dry)
  • English Graham Cracker (nice graham cracker with a hint of molasses and honey)
  • Vegetable Cracker (hints of celery and red bell pepper — my second favorite)

These crackers are a great buy. The flavors are great, and the packaging will be sure to surprise your party audience. Also, if you just happen to have leftovers, the plastic case snaps shut to keep your crackers nice and fresh! What more could you ask for? I highly recommend these crackers and will definitely be buying them again!
